In the Las Vegas presidential debate the issue of Marijuana Prohibition reform was finally brought to the forefront of the issues. The words fell from the lips of a guy who looks like he could be the official spokes person for grumpy old codgers, and we get this. It goes to show how diverse America really is and it’s good to see someone grow the balls to speak their mind. You can check out the video of the issue on CNN.com here. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors of MMJ finally coming to the table with regards to mainstream politics but here it is… in everyone’s face.
I suspect I would vote yes. And I would vote yes because I am seeing in this country too many lives being destroyed for non-violent offenses. We have a criminal justice system that lets CEOs on Wall Street walk away and yet we are imprisoning or giving jail sentences to young people who are smoking marijuana
You can check out the High Times coverage of this debate incident here. I’ve watched the CNN video several times and I love how Bernie reluctantly stick to his guns and tells the world what he really thinks of our criminal justice system and how it treats cannabis users drawing a sharp contrast with Wall Street criminals who would never be arrested for much greater offenses. The prohibition on cannabis, is much worse than prohibition of alcohol in the sense that it’s being waged only on the lower and middle class and pushing those individuals futher into poverty with steep fines and jail time for this innocent, non-violent offense.
